26 Jul 2010 : 3 WINS IN A ROW FOR SUNDAY CROWS
Crows' Sunday team put on a fine team display to beat a spirited Bedfont team at New Ground.

After the winning the toss and electing to field, Monty and Red Barron opened the bowling with tight spells, each bowling their permitted 8 overs and picking up a wicket apiece. Fluffer and Jukey then picked up the baton and, despite bowling slightly more erratically, also picked up a wicket (although Fluffer didn't actually realise he'd taken one, stifling his appeal for caught behind and turning round to agree with the umpire, only to see the batsman walking - top marks to the batsman for playing in the correct spirit).

Kahuhna, Sean and Kiwi (who sustained a nasty injury when Red Barron opened fire with a vicious throw at the stumps, only to find Pete's wrist) kept the run rate down, despite Bedfont's best efforts to hit out towards the end, before skipper Shaw came on to bowl the last over - and was promptly carted into the picturesque boundaries for fifteen!

Replying to Bedfont's total of 158-5, the Red Barron continued his blistering form, hitting a sublime half-century before retiring hurt. He was ably supported by Howard, who almost saw Crows home, before being caught one agonising run short of a deserved fifty. Brendywendy made a plucky 19 not out, but it was Dave who came in to steal the glory, dispatching the ball over the ropes for six to see his side to a nine wicket victory.

Many thanks to Bedfont for providing the best sportsmanship and culinary-related banter (referring to Howard's batting - "He's hardly a Michelin starred restaurant...more of a Little Chef") we've seen and heard all season.

24 Jul 2010 : Crows waltz to victory at Waltham
Crows waltz to victory at WalthamA fine team effort saw Crows defeat Waltham St. Lawrence by a whopping 101 runs at their picturesque ground.

The victory was all the more remarkable as, having won the toss and elected to bat, Crows slumped to 65 for 6. But a fine partnership of 101 between the Red Barron (building on his record breaking knock last Sunday to post a terrific 82) and Danny Boy (35) saw Crows get up to a very respectable total of 180 on a slightly two-paced pitch.

Waltham got off to a good start in their run chase, until Fluffer made good ground to take a sharp catch, giving Jon Cole a deserved wicket. At the other end, Azza rolled back the years with a vintage display of miserly bowling. After taking four wickets each, John and Azza stepped back to allow Dan to wrap the match up with a sensational double wicket maiden.

Full match report to follow.

18 Jul 2010 : RED BARRON GUNS DOWN YATELEY
Richard Barron made Crowthorne history as he hammered a splendid 179 to set a new batting record, surpassing the 167 made by Gary Attree some 10 years ago.

Crows made 264-6 off 40 Overs with Monty Miller unbeaten on 29.

Miller then mage immediate impace removing Yateley's opener first ball of their innings.

Nick McDonagh chipped in with 3 wickets and Dan with 2.  There were also wickets for Kahuna and Pete Clarke.

Yateley were i nall sorts of problems chasing the total and with 9 wickets down and almost 100 runs still required, they lookek out of the game, but the last wicket pair made a very close affair of it.

However star of the show Barron, ensured that stand-in skipper James Carson would taste victory in his first taste of captaincy by bowling the last batsman with ony 4 runs required for victory.

Well done Rich. a joy to witness batting like that.

18 Jul 2010 : TIMMS AND PARTRIDGE LEAD CROWS TO MWE VICTORY
Crows Saturday team got back to winning ways with a tense, narrow victory over Mortimer West End.

Crows triumphed by 20 runs after being after being dismissed for 124 before restricting the hosts to 104.

Dean Timms starred with the bat with a well-crafted 50 and Dan Partridge did the damage with the ball, taking 5-35. Fluffer, Barron and Monty all contributed with the ball with Fluffer a coat of varnish away from taking a hattrick.

A vital win for the Crows after a few indifferent results in recent weeks.

14 Jul 2010 : CROWS V SE READING MATCH REPORT

Division 2

Despite a battling fielding display Crowthorne recorded their second loss of the season to a resurgent South East Reading team, suffering defeat by four wickets.

Electing to bat first, Crows never managed to put the hosts under pressure as wickets fell at regular intervals.

There was little support for skipper Pete Northall’s fine knock of 80, with only Ross Chalmers and Dave Shaw showing resistance to Imran Ali (4-25) and Tariq Sharif’s (3-18) bowling to post an under-par 174.

Crows needed early wickets after tea, and Chalmers (4-63) duly got the breakthrough with Richard Hester making the catch on his league debut.

Chalmers struck again with his next ball, clean bowling the dangerous Gulab Abbas.

At 48-4, the turning point came in Steve Northall’s first over when Ghalib Hussain (104no) survived a huge caught behind appeal before going on to make a match-winning knock.

A tired Northall said: “One hundred and seventy four was always going to be 50 runs short on a decent track, and while we put up a good performance on the field we need to find more consistency with the bat.

“Without more contributions from the top order, we will put ourselves under pressure. We know we have the talent – we just have to show it.”

12 Jul 2010 : STENT INSPIRES SUNDAY VICTORY
Crowthorne Sunday team got back to winning ways after a string of indifferent results and performances in recent weeks with a 3 wicket win over TVR at a sun-scorched New Ground

Robin Stent, making a rare appearance on a Sunday, led the charge with a knock of 80 not out.

He was ably supported by Rich Barron, Soapy and Fluffer who came in to hit the winning runs.

With the ball, Dan Partridge and Sean Clarke did the damage taking 2 wickets apiece, whilst there were also wickets for the Red Barron and Todders.

Butterfingered Skipper, Dave Shaw belied his recent run af dropped catches taking two smart chances to silence his critics.

Shaw also almost decapitated himself after over-running the boundary and getting acquainted with a couple of tree branches in the under-growth.

06 Jul 2010 : SHAW MAKES HIS MOVE FOR DUCK PRIZE
Dave "Butter-fingers" Shaw has started to ease through the field in the race for the coveted Duck Prize. His 3rd blob in 4 knocks on Sunday meant he has joined perrenial contendor Monty in the leading pack on 3. There's even talk of dropping himself down the order to avoid another one.......

In addition to this, a few more spilled chances in the field means that Dave is also in contention for the soon to be unvieled Dropped Catches award, although Junior is keen to give him competition with this, it is reported.
